In preparation for potentially serving as a regional evacuation center during the upcoming wildfire season, the City of Prince George is establishing a casual pool of Emergency Support Services (ESS) workers.

In the event that the City establishes an emergency reception centre, you will be scheduled to provide registration and renewal support to evacuees.  The work involves completing the necessary documentation to register people as evacuees and enables them to obtain food, lodging, clothing and basic incidentals, in accordance with provincial requirements.

A high level of compassion is essential, as is the ability to remain calm and supportive when dealing with people in heightened emotional states.  You must be proficient with technology, be able to effectively understand and follow oral and written instructions, and have a strong customer-service orientation.  Previous experience in ESS is an asset.

Applicants must be available to work evening and weekend shifts throughout the summer with few limitations on availability.  Training will be provided during the first two weeks of June and attendance is a mandatory requirement of employment.

These positions offer a wage of $18.99 per hour.
