About The Opportunity:

The Arborist 1 is responsible for skilled arboriculture work involving the identification of trees and tree pests as well as the inspection, care and maintenance of trees in municipal parks, greenbelts, streets and other municipal properties. Planting, cultivating, pruning, and removing hazardous trees are also important responsibilities of this challenging position.

About Your Background:

The ideal candidate will have completed Grade 12 and have a Certified Arborist Technician designation and an ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certification. One year of directly related work experience in the arboriculture field and a commitment to safety and customer service excellence are also requirements for the position. A WUAA/HEBC Falling & Bucking Endorsement, a Pesticide Applicator's license and a Chainsaw safety and fall protection certification must be completed within six months of hire. A Tree Risk Assessor qualification would be considered an asset. The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check for offences related to the position. Applicants who meet the one year of experience requirement and have completed coursework in arboriculture, horticulture or a related discipline will be considered.
