Are you innovative, passionate about transit and excited at the prospect of improving systems and infrastructure for our Sustainable Community Development Division?

Then the City of Prince George has an outstanding career opportunity for you!  In the role of Transit Planner, you will take part in the operations review and planning of the City's Custom (HandyDART) and Conventional transit systems.  Under the general supervision of the Manager, Sustainable Community Development, and in cooperation with BC Transit, this key position will manage improvements to the City's transit systems and infrastructure and take part in systems planning, public transportation planning, refining and updating the strategic marketing strategy, implementing the future plan, managing external contractors, and managing the finances of the transit function.

You will assume a strong leadership role in developing, implementing and maintaining partnership agreements with external agencies, businesses and community groups to achieve goals. In addition to improving transit, you will establish ridership targets and develop plans to promote transit use.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology, Civil Technology, Transportation and/or Business Administration
  • Previous experience in the planning, administration and marketing of transportation services, ideally public transit
  • Expertise in transit planning, operations and scheduling
  • Experience developing and assisting in the management of budgets
  • Expertise in statistical analysis and data management
  • A working knowledge of business and management principles
  • Familiarity with Prince George area streets and bus routes
  • Adept at developing and implementing marketing strategies
  • Strong communication, public speaking, negotiation and public relations skills
  • Independent, creative and able to exercise sound judgement.

 

This regular, full-time position offers a starting wage of $ 36.83 per hour as well as a comprehensive benefits and pension package. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License (or out of province equivalent) is required.
